This census is particularly useful in that it provides not only the name of each member of the household, but also that individual's relationship to the head-of-household plus the birthplace of each individual. We are proceeding with our project of transcribing the 1855 New York State census schedules of all the towns of Saratoga County. Availability of the state census schedules for Saratoga County begins only as early as 1855, but all later state census schedules are available on microfilm. New York next again conducted a census in 1892, then resumed its ten year schedule in 1905 through 19. The State of New York also conducted a statewide census of its population every ten years from 1825 through 1875, filling in conveniently halfway between the Federal census years. Commercial firms have indexed the Federal Census for the entire state of New York for the years 1850, 18, and Soundex index microfilms are available for 1880, 19. The 1790 census is available in book form and is indexed.
